01. Make a mean something

My sister makes a mean pasta.

Actually he was well known for making a mean shoes.

 

▶ 의미있는 무언가를 만든다고 생각하면 될 것 같다. 그만큼 잘 만들고, 잘한다는 뜻인데, 직접 만들 수 있는 음식이나 제품이 주료 사용되었다.

 

 

02. Hang over someone

The fact that I have to make a great success is hanging over me.

The upcoming test was hanging over me.

It is really awful having dizziness hanging over me.

 

▶ 예문을 살펴보니 'be hanging over someone'은 현재 어떤 부정적인 사건이나 사실이 누군가를 걱정하거나 괴롭게 만들고 있는 상황에서 쓰였다.

'hanging over some'의 경우는 부정적인 결과물을 뒤에서 수식하는 꼴로 쓰였다.

 

 

03. Kick the bucket

Because of the terrible headache and dizziness, I thought I was going to kick the bucket.

 

 

04. One's head is spinning

I was in the warm storage yesterday so that I could fill some materials in the empty bottle. But the temperature was 60 ℃. Even if I was there for a moment, my head was spinning.

 

 

05. a scorcher

The summer of 2018 was almost like hell. Because everyday is a series of a scorcher. It was so hot.

 

▶ 'a scorcher'이라는 단어 자체가 '날'을 포함하고 있어서 'socrcher day'라는 표현이 필요 없다.
